THE POP EXPOSE 'SCRAP IRON' By Mitchell Smith!
G.I. Joe was a big hit right from when they came out with the 1982 straight arm figures. There were only Cobra Troopers and Cobra Commander at the time for the bad guys to defend the world against. 1983 added a couple signature Cobra characters with Destro and Major Bludd. 1984 was a big year for Cobra and its lineup of enemies. The backstories of deceit and betrayal started to develop. Many great staple characters came out this year. Storm Shadow, Firefly, The Baroness, and one of my favorites Scrap iron. Scrapie was one of the main characters in the cartoon and was highlighted in a couple issues of comics.

I was a 9 year old boy when this came out. My brother got him as a gift. Scrap Iron was a cool little figure at the time. His missile launcher was a neat weapon. The color scheme of his uniform just worked so well and of course he has a unique scar that made him stand out as rough and tough. It made it look like he had been through some rough times and here he stood still able to battle. He probably isn’t the most popular and gets overlooked sometimes but this is one of my favorite characters.

What are your opinions on 'Scrap Iron'? Let us know below!

Scrap-Iron is an under-rated villain. I would have loved to see him paired more with Firefly for unusual missions.

The question is, will Storm Shadow ever discover his other Uncle's killer? And if so, does anyone think Scrap-Iron is safe?

I always loved how in the cartoon they made Scrap Iron seriously devious. But, what i really don't understand as an adult is why he just gets a few easter eggs in the show up until Arise Serpentor Arise. Especially since the figure was released in 1984 and Arise Serpentor Arise came out in 1986 when the figure was no longer available. To me the only other cobra who has as good of an evil persona in the toon is firefly. And he is massively underused in the cartoon as well.
