Using the MASS device, Destro and Cobra Commander steal a powerful satellite, kidnap Duke and terrorize the world. Scarlett and the other Joes learn that the only way to stop Cobra is to build their own MASS device. To do it they must search the globe for three precious elements and get them before Cobra does or all is lost. Duke battles for his life in Cobra’s Arena of Sport.

This was a great first 5 episodes for the series. Introduced some classic characters that were there all the way to the end....and some that didn't such as breaker and clutch. Highlights for me were the first look at "Cobra Mountain" during a dark and stormy thunderstorm. Destro's leadership and babysitting of CC. SE meeting Timber.Major Blood leading Cobra into battle. Is it my favorite? No, but is still a lot of fun to watch again and again years later.

Yeah i want an action figure of the 'Executioner'. Did some googling and found out that the 'M.A.S.S.' in Mass Device actuall stands for, 'Multipoint Asynchronous Subether Station'. Now, how many of you knew that piece of trivia before tonight? :+D :+D

I have used the word asynchronous before in relation to a conversation about online learning. Synchronous would mean at the same time, or synched up. The "A" at the beginning is from the Latin meaning "not."

Ironically, the word amuse derives the same way.
A meaning not, and muse meaning think. Amuse should mean not to think. But we all think about our amusement and even discuss it.

Interesting.

You know how Cobra Commander and Destro use remote controls to electronically control the movements of their slaves and of Duke in the Arena of Sport. And this is science fiction? Well, I guess in 2018 it is not science fiction because its actually being done.

Imagine someone remotely controlling your brain, forcing your body’s central processing organ to send messages to your muscles that you didn’t authorize. It’s an incredibly scary thought, but scientists have managed to accomplish this science fiction nightmare for real, albeit on a much small scale, and they were even able to prompt their test subject to run, freeze in place, or even completely lose control over their limbs. Thankfully, the research will be used for good rather than evil… for now.

The effort, led by physics professor Arnd Pralle, PhD, of the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences, focused on a technique called “magneto-thermal stimulation.” It’s not exactly a simple process — it requires the implantation of specially built DNA strands and nanoparticles which attach to specific neurons — but once the minimally invasive procedure is over, the brain can be remotely controlled via an alternating magnetic field. When those magnetic inputs are applied, the particles heat up, causing the neurons to fire.
